10 Great Movies That Break The Fourth Wall

7. Kuffs (1992)

Ferris Bueller
Universal Pictures

Kuffs is the kind of fun, cheesy, inoffensive action-comedy the 90s bred so well. It stars Christian Slater as George Kuffs, a high school dropout who walks out on his pregnant girlfriend (Milla Jovovich) and, through a series of unfortunate events, ends up joining the police in hopes of finding the man who killed his brother.

All told, Kuffs is a crazy, predictable crime comedy, but it's so fun and Slater is so enjoyable in the title role that you really can't fault it as a solid piece of popcorn cinema.

Throughout the film, Kuffs lets the audience know exactly how he feels, often painting himself in an unflattering light whilst always being surprisingly hilarious and occasionally thoughtful. It's this narrative technique which allows the film to set itself apart from other action comedies of the decade.

Thanks to its inclusion, Kuffs manages to pack tons of little jokes in its hour and a half runtime, and outside of its typical storyline still happens to feel fresh and unique upon first viewing.
