10 Great Movies You Probably Missed (That You Can Now Catch On Netflix)

5. Hanna

Hanna movie Saoirse Ronan
Focus Features

Starring Saoirse Ronan as a teenage assassin, 2011's Hanna follows the deadly title character as she sets out on a quest to eliminate a high-profile target who works for the CIA.

Like The Hitman's Bodyguard, Hanna also released during a quiet period at the box-office, and this lack of attention led to a shorter-than-usual theatrical run. That's a shame, because its slick action and impressive cast (Eric Bana and Cate Blanchett co-star) make it perfect popcorn entertainment that's worthy of the big screen experience.

But it's also just as worthy on the small screen. With a twisty-turny narrative and commanding lead performance from a young Ronan, all the action is finely complemented by an engaging story, one which will leave you equal parts shocked, disturbed, and thrilled. Plus, at one and three-quarter hours (excluding credits) it doesn't outstay its welcome, making it the ideal movie for an evening impulse viewing.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
