10 Great Performances Lost In Unwatchable Movies

5. Nicolas Cage (The Wicker Man)

Pennywise Tim Curry

Obviously this is pushing the definition of 'great' just a bit here: by no conventional means is Nicolas Cage's performance in the blasphemous Wicker Man remake a good one, but by appreciating the actor's Nouveau Shamanic method, it elevates the movie into odd brilliance. Your mileage may, of course, vary.

Wait, Nouveau what? Nouveau Shamanic being the name Cage has given to his acting style, accounting for the bizarre melt-downs and blow-ups we've seen and loved in his performances over the years.

Indeed, his crazed cop in The Wicker Man is among Cage's best/worst work to date, culminating most notably in the film's infamous 'not the bees!' sequence. The Wicker Man is a terrible, terrible movie, but thanks to Mister Nicolas Cage, it remains strangely hypnotic.
