5. The Pod Race
Film: Episode 1 The Phantom Menace http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dcqnEFIw3A Episode 1 provided us with little in the way of epic moments; however, the Pod-Race on Tatooine was amazing and awe-inspiring. This is another example of Lucasfilm and ILM at their very, very best. Young slave Anakin Skywalker must win the pod race in order to secure repairs for the Jedis ship, and his own freedom. This scene was so intense and spectacular that even my 8 year old daughter jumped to her feet in the theater and cheered for Anakin as he crossed the finish line. 4. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi confronts Sith Apprentice Darth Vader on Mustafar
Film: Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSwy412nttI The scene we refer to here is not the final scenes of the film, but it is the ultimate confrontation between teacher and student that gives birth to the legendary Darth Vader we know, and love. The scene just prior to their grand confrontation in which Obi-Wan reveals his presence to the newly anointed Darth Vader, having hitched a ride with Padme in order to find his Jedi brother, is fairly emotional as well; Vader is gripped with anger, with the influence of the Dark Side causing him to believe that Obi-Wan has betrayed him. Obi-Wan attempts, unsuccessfully, to reason with Vader one final time before he must fatefully engage him in an effort to stop the monster that has taken over Anakin Skywalker.
