4. Blazing Saddles (1974)
When compiling a list of hilarious spoof films, all anyone really needs to do is Google (or Bing) Mel Brooks filmography copy and paste and call it a day. Brooks is the king of spoofs, creating more memorable parody films than anyone else. Despite his impressive body of work, it seems a little cheap to make a list of the funniest spoof films and only use Mel Brooks work, so I was left with the dilemma of choosing only one. You know, in the interest of fairness. The choice was tough, but in the end I think I made the right call and went with Blazing Saddles. A racially charged, fairly offensive spoof of cowboy flicks with a cartoonish sense of humor, Blazing Saddles is a one of a kind film, the likes of which we'll never see again. Especially not in modern society since more than half this movie would be considered politically incorrect by today's standards. Making frequent use of the N word, guys punching horses, flamboyant homosexual dancers, Brooks holds nothing sacred in this one, and we love him for it. The humor comes from all over the place, relying at times on shock value, and at other times on fart jokes as evident in the famous camp fire scene. Blazing Saddles is Brooks at his best.
