3. The Naked Gun: From The Files of Police Squad! (1988)
Police Squad was a television series spoofing the tacky cop shows of its era. And though it only lasted six episodes, the world had not seen the last of Police Squad or Sergeant Frank Drebin. About six years after the show's cancellation, the creators of Police Squad decided the time was right to take another shot at their cop-based spoof. Good thing they did too, because otherwise we may never have known the hysterical antics of Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! One of the most famous spoof movies of all time, and with good reason, Leslie Nielsen proves once again why he was the best when it came to mocking others work. As is the case with many of the Zucker brothers' films, Naked Gun is more about endless gags than tight story telling. Not that that's a bad thing. Just look at the scene where Nielsen's character visits Officer Nordberg (played by famous criminal OJ Simpson) in the hospital. A strong compelling story would call for a touching scene between two friends, but who the hell wants that? What we want is the hospital bed folded up crushing an injured man while Nielsen does little to comfort Nordberg's wife.
