10 Great Teen Horror Movies (No One Ever Talks About)
3. The Faculty
Shortly after achieving mainstream recognition via Desperado, a remake of his own earlier El Mariachi, Robert Rodriguez released his first big budget film to a critical... shrug.
Despite boasting a killer high concept and a script from in-demand Scream superstar Kevin Williamson, The Faculty failed to win over reviewers and was largely forgotten as a relic of the late nineties shortly after its release.
And that's a damn shame, because this high school-set, action-oriented re-do of Invasion of the Body Snatchers is as propulsive and funny a slice of genre fun as that description makes it sound.
Maybe you're the sort of viewer who doesn't want to see a nerdy Elijah Wood face down a giant tentacled Lovecraftian monstrosity. Maybe you're a viewer who doesn't care to watch Josh Hartnett play a drug dealing burn out who's forced to stop selling counterfeit caffeine pills and save the day. And that's alright, but for viewers who do enjoy fun, The Faculty is well worth seeking out ASAP.
