Not long after The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, this imitator followed. Screenwriter Wesley Strick had some success with familial turmoil in his script for Martin Scorsese's remake of Cape Fear, but his directional debut lacked the tense, eerily sexual tension for which Fear was known.

Keith Carradine and Daryl Hannah play a Mickey & Mallory-type criminal who, after fleeing the police, leave their young daughter behind. The daughter is soon adopted by a loving architect and photographer couple - pretty much the only two jobs that exist in yuppie movies.

All is well, though the daughter seems a little maladjusted and her birth parents come looking, with inevitably explosive results.
