10 Greatest "I'm Dead And I Know It" Moments From Stargate

8. Ra - Stargate 1994

In the original movie, Ra was played by Jaye Davidson, fresh off his Oscar-nominated performance in The Crying Game. He wasn't keen to act again, so he demanded a ridiculous fee from the studio to appear - which they agreed to. While he delivered an excellent performance, some of his frustration may have seeped into his final moments on-screen.

Clearing himself and his ship from Abydos, Ra is ready to escape when the transport rings activate. Baring his teeth in an unconcealed snarl, he moves toward them, just in time to see the tactical nuclear warhead appear - with six seconds left on the clock.

There's nothing else for it. The look of pure rage, fear, resentment, and resignation is evident. CGI adds a little to the scene, with his eyes glowing, before it takes over to make his appearance more alien. But in those moments beforehand, Davidson absolutely nails the look of a man who has nowhere to go. He's staring his own destruction in the face, and he knows it.

It is a true shame that he retired from acting for the most part after this, as Davidson's performance is one of the highlights of the movie.
