10 Greatest "I'm Dead And I Know It" Moments From Stargate
6. Colonel Lionel Pendergast - Ethon
Colonel Pendergast is a hero in Stargate's history, yet he's not often remembered. He only appeared in a handful of episodes, and he wasn't even the first commander of the Prometheus. This huge ship was Earth's first deep-space vessel, though it came to a fiery end in the episode Ethon.
The Ori have begun making serious in-roads in the Milky Way Galaxy, bringing not only their religion with them but their technology as well. When the Prometheus and SG-1 arrive at Ethon, they find a deadly satellite in orbit, one with weapons capable of carving straight through the Prometheus.
Pendergast quickly realizes that the battle is entirely one-sided, ordering the evacuation of the ship. He stays behind to ensure that everyone gets away, fully intending to follow them, before another hit cripples the ship's systems, including the Asgard beaming technology. The look on his face as he realizes that he is about to die is chilling, coupled with Daniel Jackon's pleads on the planet for them to stop firing. His pleas fall on deaf ears and, moments later, the Prometheus is obliterated in orbit.
