10 Greatest Acting Performances In Comic Book Movies
4. J.K. Simmons - J. Jonah Jamieson
There's a certain way to cast the perfect superhero. Whether it's the right amount of charisma or just a good understanding of the character, plenty of fans have accepted different actors playing the same role. On the other hand, however, there's absolutely no way you can think of J. Jonah Jameson without thinking of J.K. Simmons.
Granted, it's not like Simmons has that much competition in that arena, but that's just because the actual role is pretty much note-perfect for him to play. Even in the sillier moments of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, any scene with Jameson lecturing Peter or yelling at his writing staff is pretty much comedic gold. Whether it's talking about the amount of domestic problems he's having at home or just the way he reprimands Spider-Man for being a menace, Simmons's portrayal is one of the most satisfying secondary characters you will ever find in a comic book movie.
I mean, there's a reason why many fans roared when Simmons was brought back to play the beloved character in the end credits to Spider-Man: Far From Home. Even if you consider yourself more of a fan of the comic books, it's nearly impossible to hear any word that J. Jonah Jameson says without hearing that relentless bark of J.K. Simmons in your head.
