8. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (US Version)
Film Directed By: David Fincher
Original Work By: Stieg Larsson The Millennium Series (or Trilogy) of novels by Stieg Larsson are highly regarded and especially by me. The three novels rank in my own opinion, alongside great crime works by Agatha Christie, Arthur Conan Doyle and modern writers such as Ian Rankin. Their author, Larsson, was an incredible man in the political world with his fierce investigation into Sweden's rising Nazi culture. Although his political work is not well-known outside Sweden, it is accepted that through his research, Larsson saved many lives from the terrorism of the country's brutal right-wing, a right-wing that he investigated so well he was forced to live a life in secret, for fear of assassination. Now the trilogy was filmed firstly in Swedish with Noomi Rapace, one of Hollywood's rising stars in the lead as Lisbeth Salander, and these films did very well, but for me the triumph was David Fincher's work on the first book in his film The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara. The adaptation was a clever film, extremely well written and directed with added praise to its editing.
