10 Greatest Callbacks In MCU History

1. I Am Iron Man - Avengers: Endgame

What would the Marvel Cinematic Universe look like without Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark? It’s no exaggeration to say there wouldn’t be a Marvel Cinematic Universe to speak of at all. The wild popularity of Iron Man the movie, the character, and the actor were all paramount to the franchise’s ultimate success.

It was only fitting then, that as the greatest hero in the franchise and one of the biggest reasons for its success, Tony Stark was the one to end Thanos and close the chapter of the Infinity Saga. He assembled the Infinity Stones himself, and snapped his fingers.

In response to Thanos calling himself inevitable, Tony Stark simply said once again, 11 years after uttering the magical phrase for the first time in the MCU, that he was Iron Man. His story ended in the same way that it began.

It’s crazy to think that what began as an unscripted moment of improv from RDJ all those years ago could have had such an impact throughout the franchise, and that those same words would be used to end the biggest threat any of the Avengers had ever faced.
