There have been a number of different heroes sacrifice themselves in some way, shape, or form in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. None however, had the same impact on the franchise, on the MCU world, and on audiences as Tony Stark.

His funeral at the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame was one of the most poignant scenes in the entire history of the franchise, with more than a few callbacks. This is just the first on this list, and it goes right back to Iron Man 11 years earlier.

As Happy Hogan put a metaphorical arm around the shoulder of Morgan Stark, he told her he would look after her, and asked if there was anything she needed. She said a cheeseburger, which made Tony’s best friend of countless years well up. Tony liked cheeseburgers, too.

This of course was a reference to the famous scene in Iron Man, where Tony returned home and wanted to call a press conference, but not until he tasted an American cheeseburger. Clearly, the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree.
