10 Greatest Ever Minimalist Movie Posters

8. Aliens

Aliens PosterMatt Owen's poster for James Cameron's Aliens wins extra points for its nerd-baiting intertextuality; that is, it uses the critters from the classic video game Space Invaders to depict the Xenomorphs in a totally unconventional light, while also making great use of Bill Paxton's Hudson, with his epic declaration, "Game over, man!" making an appearance. Without using a single actual piece of imagery from the film itself - say, a facehugger, a cargo loader, or even one of the Marines' dog tags - Owen has crafted a sublimely, even daringly minimalist poster that will nevertheless go over with the gaming contingent (which is probably a large portion of the film's fans, frankly) especially well.
