Hollywood loves a reboot and when word got out that Tron was getting the treatment, many asked why. Luckily this direct sequel to the original saw the film-makers taking a classic and reinventing it, whilst maintaining the iconic visuals so strongly associated with Tron and continuing on the story decades later as the original Flyn's son, Sam, is digitised into the Grid. The souped up retro aesthetic and nods to the original actually create a vibrant world and if anything only highlighted just how much the original had dated. The film grossed over 400 million on its theatrical run and as a result Disney green lit a trilogy that is still currently in pre-production.
