10 Greatest Ever Movies About Video Games

6. Nightmares (1983)

Technically only one story in Joseph Sargant's anthology film Nightmares, The Bishop Of Battle, focuses on J.J. (Emilio Estevez), a high school slacker and arcade wizard who becomes obsessed with beating the notoriously difficult Bishop Of Battle arcade game. Sneaking out of his house and breaking into the arcade to do so, when he reaches the fabled thirteenth level the game spits all kinds of enemies out into the real world and sees J.J. taking them on with a light gun. With an incredibly eighties, low budget, aesthetic, it perfectly encapsulates the rising popularity in gaming and the American youth obsession with arcades. It€™s also great to watch Estevez handling the light gun as he, supposedly, enrolled in a two-week training session from the NYPD to perfect his moves.
