Remember that scene in Die Hard where... wait, what am I doing, of course you do. Because you remember every scene in Die Hard. Because it's Die Hard and you're not a terrible human being. Anyhow, let's all take a moment to reflect on the scene where Bruce Willis fights the baddest henchmen on Hans Gruber's team...Karl. It's a vicious slugfest that ends with John McClane wrapping a metal chain around Karl's neck and hanging him. The camera pauses on Karl's supposedly lifeless body just long enough for the audience to cheer the protagonist's cunning. And then, of course, McClane takes care of the big dog himself, dropping Hans from the top of Nakatomi Plaza to his certain death. He goes outside the building to celebrate being the hero of the day, only for Karl to come stumbling out of the building with a gun aimed directly at him. But don't worry, the cop who John had been radioing from inside the building (you remember, the one who accidentally shot an innocent kid and hadn't fired his gun since) suddenly gets over his career-altering trauma in time to shoot that som'bitch dead! It's cheesy now, mostly because it's been done to death (...heh), but at the time it was a great bit of "what-the-hellery" that let the dad from Family Matters save the day.
