10 Greatest Film Biopics Of The Last Decade

10. Frost/Nixon

frost-nixon Ron Howard took on a brilliant story of clashing ego's and made it into a knock-out biopic of British television presenter, David Frost and former President of the United States, Richard Nixon. Based on the play of the same name by Peter Morgan, Howard's 2008 adaptation revealed the dramatic television interviews between Frost and Nixon in 1977. The interviews took place after the shocking Watergate scandal in which Nixon administrator's attempted to cover up a break-in of the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate office complex in Washington, which occurred June 17th 1972. The major political scandal lead to some serious backlash for the Nixon camp, leading to Nixon stepping down from the Presidency. Howard has taken this subject matter with real bravery, exploring the often explosive interviews between take-no-prisoners Frost and the ever controversial Nixon. The brilliant Michael Sheen took the role of television presenter David Frost; a man known for his persistent interviewing techniques and fierce ability to get the truth from his interviewees. Opposite him, Frank Langella played the formidable President and the chemistry between them was most definitely the winning formula to this wonderful biopic. Sheen and Langella's portrayal of the famous interviews are absolutely electric and exceptionally true to the original footage. Both actors are able to honestly embody these famous television moments while still keeping an audience interested in the drama of the narrative as a whole; truly remarkable.
