10 Greatest Film Trilogies Of All Time

4. Three Flavours Cornetto

Though not a trilogy in the traditional sense, the Three Flavours Cornetto series has more of a cohesive arc to its storytelling than many ongoing franchises. This is the anthology that truly introduced the world to the genius that is Edgar Wright, and the result was some of the best British comedies in recent memory.

Whilst not parody films in the traditional sense, the Cornetto films are a brilliant and humorous homage to classic genre cinema, all made funnier by their relocation to the British aisles. Shaun of the Dead reimagines the zombie classics of George Romero in a London fringe district, Hot Fuzz takes the OTT action sensibilities and places them in a small village in Somerset, and The World's End places an alien invasion and the apocalypse in a sleepy English commuter town.

But even beyond all the memorable gags, these are just fantastically made films in general. They are constructed with all the panache of the serious films they take inspiration from, and connecting them all together are common themes about arrested development and fulfilling your potential.

Wright may have moved on to bigger things in his career, but Three Flavours Cornetto will always define him as a filmmaker. If you want a movie marathon night with a little variety in it, these three movies are always a solid choice.
