8. Exhibit A (2007)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoAux8y7JGU There's a reason why many people don't consider slasher films or any gore movie for that matter to be terrifying anymore. In recent years they've had this weird concept that the gorier is scarier, leaving aside important things like atmosphere and character. Not to say that in order to make a successful horror movie you need to leave those things behind. And is for those kind of things that Exhibit A is definitely another jewel from the genre. Like the films I've previously mentioned this one manages to be quite creepy with little to no resources. However what sets this film apart from many other movies is that we actually see some proper character development before the bad things start to happen, as well as when they're happening. Exhibit A tells the story of a normal family that is slowly tearing itself apart due to several problems they were having from the point of view of the youngest daughter. The accounts of the events that were recorded in the camera will become the case's "Exhibit A." From what I've heard this film is apparently based on a real-life case, which makes things incredibly creepier once you realized that something like this actually happened. However even if it didn't it still would be one of the best realized horror films ever made. I strongly recommend this one.
