4. Blast From the Past

There's nothing like a sweet, naive little man child who has been living in a bunker for his entire life who also happens to look like peak Brendan Fraser. Blast from the Past is the story of a paranoid scientist who builds an extensive bunker underneath his quiet suburban home, preparing for an impending nuclear attack from the Russians.

Well, one day a plan crashes into their backyard and, thinking it was a bomb, he goes down into the bunker with his very pregnant wife for the foreseeable future.

Adam (the aforementioned dreamy Brendan Fraser) is their child, who has never been outside and has only ever interacted with his own parents. So there are definitely going to be some comic misunderstandings when he meets Alicia Silverstone after leaving the bunker.

Blast from the Past is a bubblegum movie that is just so sweet it's almost painful. And look, not to be mean, but Alicia Silverstone is...maybe not at her best here? But the film is just so earnest and actually pretty original for a romantic comedy. It's hard not to enjoy it at least a little bit. Also...baby Nathan Fillion.
