10 Greatest Indiana Jones Movie Moments
9. Hitler Signs The Diary – The Last Crusade
Ironically, one of history’s most hated dictators turned out to be a source of comedy in The Last Crusade.
Following Elsa’s betrayal, Indy and his father head into Germany to retake the diary from her. After recovering it, Indy then bumps into the Führer, who promptly signs the diary and walks off.
Part of what makes this scene comedic is the absence of dialogue. Neither Indy nor Hitler say a single word to each other, which draws out the ridiculousness of the moment. There’s also something highly amusing about having a diary about the Holy Grail signed by Hitler.
This scene may not work for everyone, but for those who possess a dark sense of humour, it’s impossible not to enjoy this moment.
