10 Greatest Indiana Jones Movie Moments
7. Indy And His Father Escape The Castle – The Last Crusade
Sean Connery was the perfect choice to play Henry Jones. His chemistry with Harrison Ford was one of the best aspects of The Last Crusade.
Unfortunately for Indy, his rescue mission doesn't go according to plan, and he soon finds himself tied up with his father, who then subsequently sets their surroundings on fire when he drops a lighter.
The interactions between the two men that follow are some of the funniest in the film. Watching them liaise with one another whilst they’re both tied up and surrounded by flames is highly amusing.
Indy and his father then flee the castle on a motorbike. As well as containing plenty of great stunt work, the image of Henry Jones sat powerless in the sidecar whilst his son deals with the Nazi soldiers adds yet another layer of comedy to their escape.
The way this scene balances the traditional action of the first two movies with the comedic presence of Indy’s father is what makes it so exceptional. It’s the perfect distillation of why The Last Crusade is so great.
