Released in 2015, Avengers: Age of Ultron sees Earth’s Mightiest Heroes come together to battle the titular villain, an offspring of Tony Stark’s failed attempt at a global security network. A now sentient Ultron has human extinction in his sights, and recruits siblings Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, both gifted with extraordinary powers and a grudge against Tony Stark for the dearth of their parents.

After defeating Ultron and saving the citizens of Sokovia, the Avengers return to their new compound and, in the final frames of the movie, viewers are introduced to the revamped line-up of the superhero team.

While Thor announces his intention to return to Asgard to try to uncover the truth behind the visions which showed him an apocalyptic future, Stark, Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff walk into the hangar facility and declare they’re about to get the new team “into shape”, as the camera pans around to see War Machine, Vision, Falcon, and Wanda.

Teasing Captain America’s iconic call to arms, the film ends abruptly before Steve Rogers can even finish saying, “Avengers Assemble.”
