10 Greatest MCU Final Scenes
7. Heroes Divided - Captain America: Civil War
Despite its official billing as the third entry in the Captain America trilogy, Civil War also serves as a direct sequel to events in Avengers: Age of Ultron, with most of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes returning.
After Iron Man and Captain America go to war over the Winter Soldier’s involvement in the death of Tony Stark’s parents, the film ends with the team still divided. Tony returns to the Avengers compound to assist old friend James Rhodes recover from his battle injuries. Stark then receives a package from Steve Rogers – delivered by the legendary Stan Lee in one of his many MCU cameos – which includes a letter, explaining his actions and offering some sort of truce between the pair.
While Steve Rogers' narration plays, viewers see Wanda, Ant-Man, Falcon, and Hawkeye all incarcerated in a top-level security prison, when it’s revealed that Captain America has arrived to break them free. It’s a change of pace for a Marvel movie’s final scene, with a rather downbeat resolution.
Captain America: Civil War arguably ends with the team of heroes more divided than ever, but, with fans knowing Infinity War is on the way, it’s only a matter of time before a big reunion.
