10 Greatest Monster Horror Movies Of The 2010s

5. Krampus

Wolfcop 2014
Universal Pictures

The Christmas monster Krampus made its way to the mainstream in 2015's Krampus, as written and directed by Michael Dougherty.

As if Christmas with the family wasn't stressful enough already, the festive period turns into a nightmare when young Max (Emjay Anthony) accidentally summons the small army of a Christmas demon - and then the demon himself, in Krampus. Having wrought Krampus upon his neighbourhood, Max and his folks hunker down as the anti-Claus and his minions descend onto the household.

Krampus has its share of comedy affectations - including a cast of comedy stalwarts (Park and Recreation's Adam Scott and Anchorman's David Kochner) - but Krampus is no laughing matter. A gigantic horned and hooved beast with an army of demonic minions at his disposal, this manifestation of Christmas evil is anything but jolly. The film's final sequence - in which Max stands alone against the looming, terrifying great Krampus - will send chills down all but the hardiest of spines.
