10 Greatest Monster Horror Movies Of The 2010s

3. Trollhunter

Wolfcop 2014
SF Norge

This fantasy horror film melds Norwegian mythology with modern (circa 2010) found footage practices to create a truly unique genre film.

Investigating a series of bear killings, a group of students find more than they bargained for when they meet the titular troll hunter (Otto Jespersen) who is hot on the trail of a pack of escaped trolls. Trailing the man as he goes about his (government approved and paid) troll hunting business, the gang uncover a whole world of flesh-eating, Christian-hating trolls. Fi, fi, fo, fum and all that.

In the era of the found footage movie resurgence - following the runaway success of Paranormal Activity - André Øvredal's Trollhunter remains one of the sharpest, cleverest and best-remembered of the subgenre.

Sparingly used, the film's trolls look tremendous, creating some of the most arresting imagery ever to be depicted in a found footage horror movie. To this date, it remains one of the most startlingly original found footage horror films ever made.
