10 Greatest Opening Scenes In MCU History
7. Doctor Strange
With Doctor Strange’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe came a whole new realm of possibilities. This opened the mystic side of the franchise to audiences, and the movie immediately showed what was just the tip of the iceberg of the countless new directions that could be taken.
As Kaecilius and his zealots infiltrated the library of Kamar-Taj to steal the ritual with which he planned to connect to Dormammu, they were stopped and pursued by the Ancient One. The fight between them introduced two key characters to the story, their relationship, and much, much more.
The Mirror Dimension was home to the first action of the movie which also showcased the Ancient One’s powers, in an awesome display of the kind of visual affects that earned the movie an Oscar nomination. There was an incredibly unique, almost psychedelic quality to Doctor Strange, to which the spinning buildings, Sling Ring portals, and changing axis played perfectly. This was like nothing seen in the franchise before.
In spite of all this however, arguably the best part of the opening to Doctor Strange was that it was the first movie to debut the new Marvel Studios intro and theme that is now synonymous with almost every release since.
