10 Greatest Pre-Kill Movie Lines

6. "Hasta la vista baby"

While constituting a mildly erroneous entry as Arnie's Terminator doesn't actually kill the T-1000 for good until roughly ten minutes after one of his more synonymous pre-kill catchphrases, when one considers the fact that he still ultimately puts a stop to the murderous Terminator - and doesn't address it again while he does so - the legendary status of this line lands it a spot on this list regardless.

The T-1000 is made of apparently indestructible liquid metal, allowing it to shape shift and utilize murderous implements to relentlessly hunt Sarah and John Connor over the course of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, one of the greatest sci-fi outings ever conceived. Events culminate in a showdown at a steel mill, following an epic car chase; the implacable assassin is engulfed in liquid nitrogen spilling from the truck it had commandeered, freezing it and temporarily robbing it of its shape shifting ability.

Earlier in the film, adolescent John Connor gives the Terminator a crash course in humanistic slang - as opposed to "affirmative or some sh*t like that". In the most robotically hilarious of fashions, against the most emotionally fraught of backdrops, Schwarzenegger's Terminator recalls his lessons and cooly addresses the T-1000, before shattering the frozen cyborg with a bullet.

"Hasta la vista, baby".

Robert Patrick's Terminator does briefly reanimate after thawing out, continuing its rabid pursuit of the Connors. However, it is dispatched soon after by Arnie, who uses a grenade launcher to blast the T-1000 into a vat of molten steel.
