10 Greatest Songs Written For Movies

6. One Vision - Queen (Highlander)

It's pretty much a no-brainer to have Queen be involved with something on the big screen. Their use of theatrics in both their music and their videos make them prime candidates to be used in a winning film soundtrack.

Long before the band had become the subject of Bohemian Rhapsody or even the lynchpin of Wayne's World, they decided to make their big screen debut on their own terms.

Though the band's first true flirtation with score came in the form of the Flash Gordon theme, their album A Kind of Magic was the first of its kind to be centered solely around a film. After combing through the script of Highlander, the band got to work writing their next album with the film's plot in mind.

With almost all of the tracks getting released as singles, the real star of the show is the opening track "One Vision," which shows the band at their absolute best.

Instead of being a sweeping epic as you might expect from the band, this song is a no-BS rock song with some of the grittiest guitars that Brian May had played in a long while. Capping everything off with a phenomenal performance by Freddie Mercury, this '80s classic got the perfect '80s bravado under its belt.
