8. John Rescued A Dog From Being Put Down - John Wick
As surprisingly entertaining as the mythology and overall world-building is, John Wick isn't exactly a movie that people watch for subtle plot details, right?
That said, the first film does hide a fascinating secret plot point in plain sight at the very end.
The movie concludes with John (Keanu Reeves) breaking into an animal clinic and liberating a pit bull, which he takes as a pet and reappears in both John Wick sequels to date.
Yet what can be easily missed is that John wasn't simply stealing somebody's dog to replace his own lost one - the dog in question was instead waiting to be euthanised, evidenced by a sheet of paper next to the dog's cage which has "To be put down" stamped on it.
Beyond the fact that John isn't making off with anyone's beloved canine simply being taken to the vet, it's fitting that John - a man who has avoided being "put down" more times than he can possibly count - saves a kindred animal from death.
