10 Harry Potter Book Characters We Wish Were In The Movies
1. Peeves
The Hogwarts poltergeist is a master of mischief. His sole aim in life is to cause as much chaos as possible, and it’s impossible to control him – unless you’re the Bloody Baron.
Peeves has no loyalties to a particular house. It doesn’t matter if you’re in Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, or Ravenclaw – he’ll find some way of annoying you. The poltergeist is particularly fond of ink pellets and water balloons, which he enjoys throwing at unsuspecting students, and he also likes singing rude songs around the castle. He even forces Neville to set fire to his own pants at one stage.
Oddly enough, Rik Mayall, the comedy actor best known for his roles in Blackadder and The Young Ones, was chosen to play the infamous poltergeist and he actually shot several scenes for the first movie.
His performance was cut from the final film, so it’s impossible to know if it was any good or not. But based on Mayall’s previous work, he was more than ideal for the role. One day – if we’re lucky – Warner Bros. might release his scenes and let Harry Potter fans judge the performance for themselves.
