10 Harry Potter Plot Points Cut From The Movies That Can Be Used In The TV Reboot
8. The Quidditch World Cup
The films only briefly touched upon the 1994 Quidditch World Cup, though this was a storyline that took up a few chapters in the fourth Harry Potter book. With HBO's TV show, there is now the option to show the Quidditch World Cup in full force and the events that followed.
It's explained that the stadium used for the World Cup is made with Muggle-repelling charms, so no Muggles could ever see what was going on. The Roberts family were Muggles who managed the campsite near the World Cup, and they would often have a memory charm performed on them several times a day to forget about any witch or wizardry going on.
The films didn't show anything that happened at the World Cup, whereas the books went into great detail about the games and the celebrations that happened when Ireland won the final.
Another key moment that could be shown in the TV show, was that Barty Crouch Jr. used Harry's wand - after Potter had dropped it while running away - during the riots when summoning the Dark Mark.
The Death Eaters also humiliated and tortured the Muggle family, something that wasn't shown in the films but did appear in the trailer for The Goblet of Fire.
