10 Harry Potter Plot Twists You Never Saw Coming

2. Harry Has More Soul Than Motown

Ever wondered why Harry could talk to snakes? Why he was often beset by venomous moods? Why he got the scar-based headaches? Why he could see into Voldemort's mind?

Because he's the chosen one, right?

Wrong.

Severus Snape's dying memories reveal that Harry has in fact been Voldemort's final Horcrux (a container outside the body for the pieces of your soul) from the beginning. Acting on the prophetic information passed to him by Snape, Voldemort sought out the one fated to be his equal in order to destroy him - an infant child with loving parents.

Ultimately failing to fully understand the power of the magic that he was both facing and invoking, Voldemort unintentionally cast a piece of himself into Harry on the night he killed the Potters, sealing his fate. And, when Harry is hit by the killing curse in the Forbidden Forest, it is the small piece of Voldemort's soul that is destroyed rather than the boy it lives inside.

Dumbledore may have known it all along, but to most of us this was a last-minute rug pull of the highest order, tying the prophecies, visions, strange happenings and some of the more mysterious events of the series together in a tight package for the big finale.
