The Happy Ending

True love conquers all - Joe reveals himself to Sugar while again on the run from the mob, and she chases him to Osgood's yacht, which is leaving forever with him, Jerry and randy millionaire Osgood onboard. She confesses her love for Joe, and they sail off into a happy ending, while Jerry and Osgood presumably have awkward sex in a cabin.

The Harsh Reality

Sugar might pretend that she is committed to Joe at the end of the film, but there is no suggestion beyond her epiphany of love for the jazz musician that her commitment to Junior, the impotent millionaire is anything other than motivated by worldly concerns.

She is a gold digger of the highest order, who attempts to seduce Junior in order to get him to marry her, undoubtedly for his money, and despite falling in love with Joe, who is once more on the run and penniless by the end of the film, logic dictates that she will come to her senses sooner rather than later.

Rather than putting up with the "fuzzy end of the lollipop" once more, Sugar will seek to better herself, dumping Joe and falling into the arms of the closest Sugar Daddy (the hint's in her name, remember) - or in other words, Osgood, whose casual acceptance of Jerry's penis surely couldn't last.
