6. Quoting Lines - The Expendables 2

The Hated Scene: The Expendables 2 was pretty much the same as The Expendables except it kinda got it wasn't meant to take itself seriously and boasted more screen-time for the action legends you actually wanted to see back on the big screen (take that Dolph). It's not all laughs though; bringing in big names brings all their baggage with them. Cue a barrage of iconic quotes thrown out to obviously wink at the audience ("I'll be back", "yippee-ki-yay" etc.). Why It's Not So Bad: The one thing people really wanted to see in The Expendables was their beloved eighties heroes saying and doing all the things they did in their heyday, but with more wrinkles. And when the second film delivered just that they hated it because it was cheesy. What did people expect? The films The Expendables is imitating were cheesy in the first place and homaging it is only going to be more so. Seeing Schwarzenegger and Willis chuck each other's iconic lines at each other is exactly what everyone expected, so why the shock disgust? There's a lot wrong with Sly Stallone's throwback, but these quoting moments can't really take the blame. You can't create a monster, and then whine when he stomps on a few buildings.
