10 Hated Movie Moments That Aren't As Bad As You Think
5. Bane The Henchman - The Dark Knight Rises
The Hated Scene: One of the crimes committed by Joel Schumacher's Batman And Robin (in amongst many, many others) was its taking of then-new villain Bane (a character who in the comics had just wowed fans with his mix of brains and brawn) and turning him into a generic henchman. So you can imagine the excitement among Bat-fans when it was announced that Christopher Nolan's finale to The Dark Knight Trilogy would feature Bane as the big bad enacting his definitive Knightfall arc. This excitement soon turned to disappointment when it was revealed Bane was in fact just working for Talia al Ghul. Why It's Not So Bad: The hate for this scene tends to be coupled with the disappointment at the Miranda Tate is Talia al Ghul twist, which was only obvious because fans had been theorising for the year leading up to release. Remove that and it becomes disgruntlement at a competent character origin twist; people may claim he's robbed of all power and menace, but it's clear from his actions that he's been in control the whole time. As for his subsequent, quick death at the guns of a Batpod-riding Catwoman, well it's no worse than any other villain defeats in the series; Scarecrow was tasered by Katie Holmes and Two-Face was thrown off a roof after twenty minutes.
