10 Hated Movie Moments That Aren't As Bad As You Think

3. Multiple Endings - The Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King

The Hated Scene: At the end of The Return Of The King the One Ring is into Mount Doom and Sauron is defeated. By the film's own admission it is the end of all things. But then along come some eagles to save the hobbits from the exploding mountain. And then Frodo wakes up and gets a happy reunion with all his pals (minus Sean Bean). And then Aragorn get's crowned, gives his thanks to the hobbits and the camera heroically pans out. And then the hobbits go home and have a pint. And then Frodo reveals he's leaving Middle Earth. And then... will you just end already? Why It's Not So Bad: One of the most common complaints of The Return Of The King is that it has too many endings. And while it's true there's a total of six fake-outs before the credits finally roll, it does seem to be missing the point of the whole trilogy quite a bit. It's an epic three part journey with countless character arcs that need some resolution. Had any of these scenes been cut, people would have complained that it ended too abruptly. In the book the destruction of the Sauron isn't even the end of the fight; there's the whole Scouring of the Shire chapter to deal with. Now people would have found that way too much.
