10 Hated Movies (That Deserve A Second Chance)
8. The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003)
It is upsetting that The League of Extraordinary Gentleman bombed so badly. It wasn't even that bad, it even starred Sean Connery, and everybody knows that Sean Connery stars in great movies. He's James Bond for christ's sake.
Technically, the movie wasn't really a flop, it grossed a large amount of money and did pretty well with merchandise, etc. Sadly, the critics didn't agree and blasted the comic book-based feature film as terrible.
Admittedly, it wasn't a cinematic masterpiece but it wasn't trying to be. Instead, it's an action-packed steampunked superhero film based on a classic comic book that has plenty of fans. Sadly, such fans can react strongly to a set of characters that might mean a lot to them. This then ends in high expectations and disappointment.
The League of Extraordinary Gentleman might not be what you imagined but if you take away the preassumptions you will see the romance, the excitement, and the quirky dialogue that can often be pretty cheesy but also awesome because it is the League of Extraordinary Gentleman and they are finally on the big screen.
