10 Hidden Details In Movie Opening Scenes
1. X-2: X-Men United - Assassinated Presidents Portraits On White House Walls
Widely accepted to be the strongest X-Men film adaptation to date, X-2: X-Men United started as it meant to go on by introducing us to the fan favourite Nightcrawler during the film's dramatic action packed opening scene.
As Nightcrawler teleports though the White House in search of the current President of the United States he aims to kill, leaving a path of bodies in his wake, we see various halls and rooms within the historic building.
At a glance, there doesn't seem to be anything too noteworthy on show (aside from a teleporting mutant kicking some serious ass). However, there's a very telling detail situated on the walls within the building as Nightcrawler begins his mission.
We see portraits of John F. Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln and William McKinley at various points. What's important about these portraits being visible is the fact that each and every one of those former Presidents was assassinated whilst they were still in office, which is exactly what Nightcrawler is trying to pull off throughout this first scene.
The rest of the sequence was unquestionably one of the most spectacular pieces of action we'd seen in any superhero movie at that point, so it was easy to overlook some of the genius hidden details hiding in plain sight during this heart-stopping opener.
