10 Hidden Details In Movie Opening Scenes
3. Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker - Palpatine's Call Back To Revenge Of The Sith
As we begin the ninth and final chapter in the epic Skywalker Saga, we find a brooding Kylo Ren going through extreme lengths in order to find the Sith planet known as Exegol.
Once he lands on the shadowy world, Ren starts to hear the familiar voice of Emperor Palapatine telling him that he is 'every voice (he's) ever heard inside (his) head'.
This entire spooky opening all leads to the moment where we finally see the big bad's face for the first time in years. Yet, the Emperor's line just before this reveal, explaining that 'the Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural', feels just as familiar as the fearsome villain himself.
That's because Palpatine uttered that exact same phrase during a conversation with one Anakin Skywalker during Revenge of the Sith, when he was in the midst of turning the 'Chosen One' to the Dark Side.
The sequel trilogy has received criticism at times for appearing to completely gloss over the prequels, however this one well crafted callback early in Rise of Skywalker is a subtle enough nod to one of the most vital conversations in the entire series.
