10 Hidden Details That Make Horror Movies Even Scarier

7. It - The Creepy Librarian

IT Chapter 2
Warner Bros.

At this point the first part of Warner Bros. recent It double header has been analysed to death, with every frame mined for hidden scares, details and Easter eggs. Still, just because it's popular doesn't mean it's not worthy of a spot on this list, especially as how the hidden librarian scare continues to blow the minds of those who've never noticed it.

In an otherwise innocuous scene, outsider Ben is trying to get more information on the town of Derry, flicking through a big book in the library. It's all pretty straightforward, an exposition scene that serves to highlight the town's dark past, and the audience's focus is very much on Ben and the contents of the book.

However, as the camera cuts from the book itself to a mid-shot of Ben sat down, just out of focus to the right is a particularly sinister looking old lady. Instead of a nice librarian, this seems to be Pennywise in disguise, relishing the fact that Ben's fear is only going to rise the more he finds out about the town.
