10 Hidden DVD & Blu-Ray Horror Movie Easter Eggs You Need To Find

2. The Full Ring Video - The Ring

The Ring Video
DreamWorks

Gore Verbinski's 2002 remake of J-horror classic The Ring is a rare American rehash that actually respects the original and is genuinely terrifying on its own merits.

Considering the film's central conceit of a killer video tape, the team behind the DVD release decided to include a deeply creepy Easter egg for inquisitive viewers.

On the DVD's main menu, press up and hit enter, and you'll trigger a two-minute video clip of the full cursed Ring tape featured in the film.

And because that's not haunting enough, once the video "ends" and the screen fades to black, a phone will ring twice in an attempt to give fans one last scare.

If your own phone sounded anything like the one in the movie, it sure as hell worked.

Better still, if you hadn't yet joined the glorious ranks of DVD ownership when The Ring hit home video, the VHS copy of the movie actually included the full Ring video before the typical FBI warning screen.
