10 Hidden Gem Indie Horror Movies You MUST Watch

They Look Like People

In this sci-fi thriller, 50 strangers wake up in a mysterious room without explanation, only to discover they must vote every two minutes who amongst them dies.

Although the concept has Twilight Zone written all over it, Circle also shares similarities to 12 Angry Men. Like Sidney Lumet's legal drama, the participants are pressurised to cast their vote, regardless whether they believe the verdict is just, purely to be done with it all.

Desperate to save themselves, certain contestants vote based on race, religion, or age, urging others to do the same. Scenes like this are thought-provoking since they explore morality, prejudice, and groupthink in a terrifyingly believable way.

Also, the tension never lets up since the clock is always counting down. Viewers can get so enraptured by what someone is saying, they can momentarily forget about the premise and BOOM! That character is dead. And with no central protagonist, the shifting alliances and power dynamics create a relentless sense of suspense and unpredictability.

With Circle currently available on Netflix and a sequel set for release this year, now is the perfect time to give this gem a go.
