8. Outpost III: Rise Of The Spetsnaz

While Dead Snow (and its sequel) has quite the cult following, one Nazi zombie series that maybe goes a little under the radar is the Outpost franchise.

Of the three Outpost pictures to date, likely the pick of the bunch is 2013's Outpost III: Rise of the Spetsnaz. Set during World War II, this threequel finds three Russian military men taken captive and locked up in a Nazi prison facility. Unfortunately for this trio, they soon find themselves becoming guinea pigs for a crazy Nazi experiment to create what's dubbed as super-zombies.

Our three heroes aren't the ones chosen to become these all-powerful walking corpses, mind, for they are instead used as a measuring stick as to just how effective these super-zombies are. Being no-good villainous types, the Nazis use the Russians as bait to test out just how good their creations are.

Despite a relatively modest budget, the main beasts of Rise of the Spetsnaz look great, with the movie carving up erratic, frenetic, aggressive zombies rather than any sort of shuffling, plodding sorts. In utilising such an approach to its zombies, Outpost III makes itself quite the tense affair, and the film's action sequences are all kinds of brutal and badass.
