10 Hidden MCU Details You Never Noticed

8. Captain Marvel's Stan Lee Cameo

The entire comic book world was absolutely gutted when Stan Lee passed away back in 2018. Being the face of Marvel and having charming cameos in nearly each movie, every single appearance from Stan felt like a touching tribute to the man who built the Marvel empire. However, one of his last cameos ended up paying tribute to another comic book acolyte.

Set in the mid '90s, Captain Marvel tends to play up the alternative look of the times, down to the grunge music choices and the flannel sense of style. On the other hand, Stan the Man ends up showing up while Carol Danvers is still known as Vers, being just an average traveler on a train. Though the actual cameo is cute for what it is, you might want to take a closer look to what Stan is reading.

Being the '90s, Stan is actually seen rehearsing lines for the movie Mallrats, where he also makes a cameo appearance alongside comic book aficionado Kevin Smith. Seeing how Smith has become the resident comic book nerd of Hollywood, it was interesting to see Marvel Studios actually pay tribute to the latest man flying the flag for comic books. Though this was not the final time we would see Stan on screen, it was a pleasant surprise to see him all smiles up until the very end.
