10 Hidden Meanings Of Famous Movie Scenes

Don’t Look Now has arguably the most famous sex scene in film, and there are arguments to this day about whether it was real or staged (it was staged, btw). It's not just smut though; the scene is romantic instead of sleazy, showing a married couple reconnecting after the loss of their child.

The bulk of the story has the father – played by Donald Sutherland – plagued by visions of a young girl in a red coat that looks suspiciously like his daughter. He’s obsessed with tracking her down, leading to a tragic ending where he finds the figure isn’t his daughter, but a murderous dwarf with a very sharp knife.

The movie ends with his funeral, with his wife leading the mourners. This should clearly be a miserable day for her, so it’s strange she has a little smile on her face. The movie doesn’t outright say it, but the director intended this to mean she was pregnant; meaning a part of her husband will live on. The ending is still a sad one, but it’s a little more optimistic with this in mind.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
