10 High Grossing 2015 Films That Actually Made No Profit

6. The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Production Budget: $75,000,000 Worldwide Gross: $100,545,109 Estimated Losses: $49,454,891 For a big screen remake of a fifty year-old television series without major box office stars, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. did just about as good as Warner Bros. could hope it would do. Henry Cavill might be Superman, but he has yet to prove himself as a proven box office draw, and Armie Hammer's previous film The Lone Ranger was a bomb of such gigantic proportions that it's a surprise he was even cast in another big budget movie. It was obvious that Warner Bros. was hoping to turn The Man From U.N.C.L.E. into a franchise, but spending $75 million on a property that is relatively unknown to anyone under the age of sixty wasn't a good move. Director Guy Ritchie had huge success with big budget movies before with 2009's Sherlock Holmes and its 2011 sequel, but those movies starred Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, two much bigger names. He wasn't going to work the same box office magic with two less popular leads.
