Yes, Avatar was bound to wind up somewhere here, given its status as the-highest grossing movie of all-time and the size of the Chinese market. Like Titanic before it, Cameron's space-based action flick was met with a backlash a few months after its original release, though - like Titanic - it seems a little undeserved; presumably anything that is insanely popular risks a bit of a backlash. A lot of of the amazing scenery in Avatar was actually based on China's Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, which gave Cameron's film an added advantage at the box office there; many flocked to see the movie knowing that part of their culture had been used as inspiration. As a result, a section of the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park has since been renamed "Avatar Hallelujah Mountain." So there.
